Goals For Project
Here's a rundown of what I hope to achieve:
It's gonna be a relatively simple Metroidvania that has a story following two characters called Soleil and Lloyd (Hence project name). They're researchers working for a company that wants to learn about an ancient race that once lived in the mountains/caves.
I'm thinking about having no combat in this game and have it focus on dodging some obstacles and enemies with puzzles throughout. In other words, a Metroidvania that pretty much acts like a standard Platformer. This is subject to change if it needs to, but this is the core idea of it.
Another aspect of the game will be switching between Soleil and Lloyd. Both characters will be different in gameplay. Soleil will get the Movement Power Ups while Lloyd will get Machines that can preform tasks that Soleil can't. Once all that is figured out, if I can find a way to do this idea, 2-Player Co-op will be a thing. You and a buddy will be able to play as Soleil and Lloyd together to traverse the mountain ruins you find yourself in.
After the story starts getting added, there will be a toggle at the start of the game that'll allow you to choose whether you want to have the story or not. I will also do my best to get it voice acted so you don't have to read the text if that's a struggle for you or you just don't care about reading.
That's a lot of text to hopefully pique your interest. Any thoughts you may have about any of this are welcomed. If you have questions, I'll do my best to answer them.
